"I only came to understand trees when I heard their sap flow" (Leif Brush)
80-year-old Leif Brush is a sound art pioneer. His fascination with nature led him to the hidden sounds of flora and natural elements. Trees and wind became his Terrain Instruments. His spacious garden was gradually transformed into an artist’s studio. Guy de Bièvre and Sofia von Bustorff met with Brush in Duluth,
Minnesota. Their extensive interviews and digital audio tapes form the basis for an audiovisual space in which the work of Brush can be discovered. Moreover, for the first time in nearly 30 years, they are reinstalling two Terrain Instruments: Windribbon and Insect Recording Studio.
